Advertising labels

Paid banners and promoted placements are clearly and prominently marked as “Advertisement”, “Ad” or “Sponsored”, as appropriate. We do not use ambiguous labels that could reasonably make a paid result appear to be an independent editorial recommendation.

Who paid

Where applicable, the interface identifies the advertiser or the company on whose behalf the advertisement is shown. If targeting or personalisation is used, we provide the transparency required by applicable law and obtain any required cookie/tracking consent before activating personalised advertising.

Sponsored rankings

If payment causes a listing to appear in a position it would not otherwise occupy under the organic criteria, the result is visibly labelled as paid or sponsored. Organic ranking and paid inventory remain conceptually and technically separate.

Affiliate disclosure

Some links may be affiliate or referral links. If a user clicks such a link and completes a qualifying action, Software-Directory may receive a commission or other compensation. The user’s price is not increased merely because a link is affiliate unless specifically disclosed. Affiliate relationships do not, by themselves, determine organic rankings or editorial conclusions.

Advertiser responsibility

Advertisers are responsible for ensuring that creatives, landing pages, claims, offers, trademarks and products comply with applicable law and do not mislead users. Software-Directory may reject, pause or remove advertising that is illegal, deceptive, malicious, unsafe, infringing or incompatible with platform standards.

Third-party ad code

Only authorised administrators may deploy third-party advertising scripts. Third-party code may be subject to separate privacy/cookie requirements and is blocked where required until valid consent exists. The platform may immediately disable third-party ad code that creates security, privacy, performance or redirect problems.
